Western 42, Ketch. Full Keel. 42' 11" on Deck, about 48+ LOA. 36,000 pounds in the slings. US Register 22 tons Gross, 20 Net. 10,000 pounds in internal steel ballast, glassed into the keel. Hull & Deck lay-uup by Westsail Marine, 1976. Construction completed and launched, San Diego, 1987. 70,000 plus miles.

Hull & Deck:
Fiberglass, solid hand lay-up.

Center cockpit, head forward, main cabin aft. Galley, dinette and fore amidships. Walk-in engine room (from the aft cabin) under the cockpit.

Conventional Sunbrella bimini over the cockpit, with sap-in, roll-down, removable acrylic/Sunbrella curtains (windows) for foul weather and spray protection.

2 Maxwell 2-speed main sheet winches, four 1-speed halyard winches on main and 1 on mizzen. 2 clew outhaul reefing winches on main boom.

Aqualine 3-bladed Australian folding prop. Think three-bladed folding Maxiprop, at haft of price. Spare solid 3-blade in the locker.

Yacht specialties pedestal, binnacle and wheel, 1/4" SS and some spares from an older unit. Spare servo-rudder, Vanes, breakaway units, and rebuild kit for the Aries. Emergency tiller steering. Never used!

JRC GPS and Garmin 45 Handheld. Davis sextant and three modes of sigh reduction tables. No current almanacs! Ritchie 6" lighted main binnacle compass & handheld bearing compasses. Charts for local waters Singapore to Andaman only, but can provide world wide electronic charts if desired. Standard Instruments Electronic Depth sounder and speed log.

ICOM 700 Marine SSB, with Auto-turner, mizzen shroud antenna, Shakespeare VHF (masthead whip) and AM/FM radio/CD player, with four speaker. Can provide WX FAX software and modem cable if you have the computer. 112.5-246 MHz EPIRB. Never used.

Head & Sanitation
Baby Blake, classic, manually operated. Classic leaking seals! Small face basin with hand pump. Plenty of stowage, and roomy enough for a small dance. By-passed and disables 70-gallon holding tank.

Boathook, Boarding ladder, fenders, numerous mooring lines, sail covers, sail bags, etc. A locker full of old ropes, blocks, shackles, bits and junk. Ships bell and conch shell horn.

General Condition :
Sirius is a heavy, solidly built and well used boat in structurally sound condition. She needs cosmetic work, refurbishing and some minor repair and replacement of non structural items.

Osmosis :
Feared, dreaded and inspected for at every haulout in the past fifteen years, without evidence. Her bottom was striped, sealed and rebarriered in Darwin in 1998, with no evidence of any osmosis or blisters. Westsail boats laid up in the late 1970 years noted for their blister free history. Her last haulout and anti-fouling was at Rebak in December 2000. The bottom was in pristine condition.

Engine: Perkins 4-108. Borg-Warner Velvet Drive. Both good condition. Two Spare alternators, FW pump, starter motor, oil cooler, gasket sets and misc. Lotsa spare fuel and oil filters. No watermaker, no genset, no refrigeration!
Fuel: 210 US Gallons Diesel, in 3 storage tanks and 1 (24 gal) day tank. FRAM, Racor a
Water: 185 Us Gallons in three storage tanks. Plus some emergency jerry jugs.
Accommodation: Large double berth in aft cabin. Two pilot berths in fore cabin, plus two settees, adequate in foul weather or advanced stages of fatigue. Leecloths on all. Seats four in dinette, one on companionway ladder and more in specious cockpit.
Galley: Three-burner gimbaled Princess stove with oven. Propane in two 20 liter tanks, one aluminum, one galvanized. Stores with the regulator in a locker in the cockpit,. An electric shutoff solenoid has the switch in the galley. Double SS galley sink, hand pump. Plenty of water, lockers and stowage.
Safety Gear: Switlik 6-person encapsulated liferaft. Never deployed, last inspected 1998. Two sets of MOb poles, horseshoes and strobes. 6 unused, never wet, USCG approved PFD's. Bailout bag with hand operated reverse osmosis watermaker, emergency line, fishing gear, space blanket, etc., and a wide variety of expire but useful flares, flare gun (12 ga and 20 mm), handheld parachutes, etc.
Sail Inventory: Working jib, Yankee jib, Staysail (storm jib), Cruising Spinnaker in sleeve, Three-reef main, Mizzen staysail and one-reef mizzen. All sails mature, but in robust condition. With gentle treatment, will last many more years.
Mast / Rigging: Knot free Sitka Spruce, Hollow box, plugged and reinforced, Hereschoff design construction.

5/16" Main, 1/4" mizzen, all SS, w/Staylock fittings. Double jib stays, Inner forestay, double spreader main, double lowers, double uppers, intermediate backs (meets the forestay) and double backstays
